Langkawi June 1, 2011 : More than 100 lucky visitors got a free guided tour today of geological sites around Kilim Geoforest Park and Dayang Bunting Island. The tour kicked off the Geopark Carnival celebrating our fourth anniversary as a member of UNESCO’s Global Geopark Network.

The tour was conducted in two sessions. The morning session started at 9 am while the afternoon session began at 2 pm. 64 visitors in the morning session were taken in eight boats to visit various geological attractions in Kilim, including the Bat Cave, Anak Tikus Island and Langsir Cave, and later for eagle watching and a visit the Floating Fish Farm.

For the afternoon session, another 64 guests were given a free guided tour of the southern islands, including Snake Island, Tepuh Island, Beras Basah Island, Singa Besar Island and Dayang Bunting Island.

One of the lucky visitors who won the free tour, Abdul Aziz Bin Haron from Shah Alam, gave a very positive review and was thrilled with what he learned today about the geopark. He encouraged everyone to go on guided nature tours because such vital information could not be obtained elsewhere. He also hoped that more such programmes can be organized in the future.
