The Langkawi International Formula Jet Ski Super Series 2012
Langkawi, 8 April: The Langkawi International Formula Jet Ski Super Series (LIFJSSS) will be organized by Bintang Puspa Sdn Bhd - sanctioned by IJSBA (International Jet Ski & Boating Association, and supported by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) is slated to be the premier Jet Ski race series in the region.
The Langkawi International Formula Jet Ski Super Series will be an iconic event for the island that will differentiates it from the rest of the holiday destinations within Malaysia as well as gaining a foothold into the global Jet Ski fraternity which many of its followers are from the high net worth bracket - a target that Langkawi is keen to have access to.
The season comprises a total of 6 Chapters to be held in selected venues and states throughout the country. The venues for LIFJSSS are as follows; Langkawi Island (Kedah), Pangkor Island (Perak), Putra Jaya (Wilayah Persekutuan), Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan (Pahang), Klebang Beach (Melaka). The total prize money of RM410, 000 will put LIFJSSS amongst the top 5 international championships and will be a definite attraction for top teams and riders to participate. LIFJSSS target to be the World’s top Championship in the near future.
Langkawi Island will host the first ad the final Chapters of the Super Series which is scheduled to begin from the 12th to the 14th of April 2012. Both the inaugural and final Chapters will comprise international participants from Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, Brunei, The United Kingdom, the USA, Europe and a contingent 13 local teams from Selangor, Perak, Pahang and Terengganu.
By hosting each Chapter of the series in various locations throughout Malaysia allows Langkawi to reach out to Malaysians and foreign tourist who are already in the country. LIFJSSS will be one of the key drivers of tourist- local & foreign to the island. Each Chapter of the Super Series will comprise the following categories; 4-stroke open, 4-Stroke Stock (Men), 4-Stroke (Women), 4-Stroke Veterans, 2-Stroke Open. The Championship winners from the 4-Stroke (Men) and 4-Stroke (Women) category will represent Team Malaysia at the 32nd World Finals in Lake Havasu, Arizona, USA in 2013.
Unlike other motorized sports where its audience is predominantly adult males, Jet Ski racing is an exciting sport that appeals to audiences from all walks of life, from men to women and from children to grandparents.
The Langkawi International Formula Jet Ski Super Series primary objectives are:
1. To develop future Malaysian World Champions in the sports.
2. To establish Langkawi, Malaysia as the ‘HUB’ of Jet Ski racing in the region.
3. To promote Langkawi as world-class tourist and investment destination.
4. To set up a Jet Ski academy to develop the sport.
As the sport is in its adolescent stage in Malaysia, the future and opportunities for all activities associated with the Langkawi International Formula Jet Ski Super Series (LIFJSSS) will be bright and tremendous.
