Last April, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) welcomed students from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to our 100th Idaman Geosite Clean Up, which took place on a secluded beach near Pantai Pasir Panjang.<\/p>\n

These tourism majoring students collected roughly 300 kilograms of plastic waste along the beach. They stayed for 3 days in Langkawi collecting data samples for one of their sustainable courses and visited the Langkawi Geopark Discovery Centre before heading back home. <\/p>\n

Special thanks to IIUM for supporting LADA’s effort as the custodian of UNESCO Global Geopark in Langkawi to reduce the amount of floating rubbish found in the waters of our beloved island. This program aims to preserve and promote the beauty of the island so it remains beautiful for the comfort of tourists and local residents. <\/p>\n

Our Geovolunteers have given a briefing on the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark and how important it is to preserve and protect the natural wonders we have here.<\/p>\n
