Langkawi, 2nd July 2023 – The second day of the LUGGp revalidation began with a visit to the Drive-Thru Recycle Centre, focusing on solid waste management initiatives that encourage users to recycle solid waste to make Langkawi Island cleaner and well-preserved for future generations.<\/p>\n

Next, the UNESCO assessors were taken to Pulau Tuba, which serves as one of the locations for sustainable education programs. LADA organizes the Geosite Clean Up Program every week to clean the waters around Langkawi Island. This collaborative program aims not only to preserve the environment on Langkawi Island but also to strengthen the relationships among all stakeholders involved in achieving the Geopark agenda.<\/p>\n

On Pulau Tuba, the assessors also visited Bukit Kechill to observe unique rock formations. These rock formations are a significant attraction for geology and nature enthusiasts. Additionally, the delegation witnessed the production of “keropok leko” or popularly known as the ‘Tuba Leko Show,’ which is managed by female entrepreneurs. Their dedication and expertise have enabled them to generate sustainable income to support their livelihoods.<\/p>\n<\/div>
