Langkawi, 15th March 2022 – Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) had delivered business support to KEDA cash and annual crop entrepreneurs at Wang Tok Rendong Langkawi, Encik Mohamad Riduwan bin Halim and Encik Muhamad Shahrizal Ismail through the purchase of agricultural equipment such as water pump, water tank, and poly pipes. The equipment was delivered by YBrs. Tuan Wan Kamarul Faisal bin Wan Kamardin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Planning and Development) of LADA. The business support is part of the initiatives outlined under New Economic Opportunities (PEB) of LADA’s Langkawi Economy Roadmap Plan (HELANG) which focuses in helping Langkawi agropreneurs who have been socioeconomically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is thus hoped that this contribution could help in addressing some problems related to water supply and pressure faced by these agropreneurs. Some of the cash crops cultivated in this farm include okra, corn, papaya, and sugar cane. Meanwhile, the yearly crops include durian, mango, and jackfruit. The produce is sold at fish markets and to retail traders around Langkawi.

May all the pieces of equipment help to further boost the production of crops cultivated by the KEDA Wang Tok Rendong agropreneurs, consequently increasing the sales revenue of their cash and annual crops.
