LADA’S FIRST PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH LANGKAWI COMMUNITY TO GENERATE THE ECONOMY OF LANGKAWI

DURIAN RUNTUH SALE AT PEKAN RABU

Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) with LADA Eco Sdn. Bhd. (LETSB) and Koperasi Peniaga Pasar Malam Langkawi, Kedah (KOSALAM) (Langkawi Night Market Traders Co-operation) had successfully held a sale of Durian at lucrative prices. The sale took place at Pekan Rabu, Langkawi from 5th to 7th June 2020 (10.00 a.m. – 10.00 p.m.). The initiative was part of the announced Langkawi Economic Recovery Action Plan (PTPEL) by YBhg. Dr. Hezri Adnan, LADA Chief Executive Officer on 31st May 2020 via Strategi Pembukaan Peluang Menjana Ekonomi Baru. (New Economic Generation Opportunity Opening Strategy.)

The event was an initiative executed to regenerate the economy of this island whereby traders could buy durians at lower prices to be sold again around Langkawi. Almost two tons of durians arrived in Langkawi on 4th June. Various kinds of the king fruit had been brought into Langkawi from Penang using revolving capitals from LADA through LADA Eco Tourism Sdn. Bhd.

Among those which received great deal of interests were Musang King, Udang Merah, Durian Kampung, Horlor, and Isi Oren. Visitors were also reminded to practise social distancing and good personal hygiene as well as to wear face masks vigilantly.
