In conjunction with LADA’s 33 years anniversary celebration, the Langkawi Development Authority’s Tourism Division along with the Corporate Services Unit hosted our weekly mangrove tree planting activity at the Langkawi Geopark Discovery Centre’s newly restored Mangrove Sanctuary.

Together with the team, around 40 students from the polytechnic college came to Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark and took part in the effort of beautifying our mangrove landscape and ensuring the longevity of our mangrove forest ecosystem.

The students were given a guided tour in the discovery centre by our in-house Geopark Officers & Rangers and managed to plant around 165 mangrove seedlings that will later be planted around the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park area. The mangrove nursery is now able to hold 3000 mangrove seedlings for future planting programs.

Well done and special thanks to everyone involved!
