Ayer Hangat, 2nd April 2021 – The launching of Ayer Hangat Village (AHV) with new look by YAB Tuan Haji Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor, Kedah Chief Minister, was held on 2nd April 2021. The initiative introduced is in line with the strategy of Rebranding Langkawi as a Safe, Clean, and Sustainable Tourism Destination under Langkawi Economy Roadmap Plan (HELANG).

LADA and DXN Agrotech Sdn. Bhd. have established a collaboration in rebranding AHV’s tourism products. The outcome was the transformation of AHV with better appeal of identity and products introduced to tourists, which include:

i. Natural Saltwater Hot Spring
This hot spring can be found in only three locations worldwide, namely Langkawi Island (Malaysia), Kyushu (Japan) and Zhaori (Taiwan).

ii. Ancient Malay Traditional Culture and Arts Showcase and Performance
This product involves elements of Malay community lifestyle that can be introduced to elevate the prestige of the whole nation at world level. Live performance begins with gimmicks of wedding ceremony, traditional rites such as melenggang perut (practice of massaging a pregnant woman’s stomach) and mencukur jambul (ceremony for a new-born’s very first haircut), and traditional ceremonies such as majlis berkhatan (circumcision ceremony for little boys) as well as majlis persandingan (sitting-in-state ceremony for newlywed couples).

iii. New Ecotourism-based Products – Mushroom Village and Freshwater Lobster Breeding Ponds.
Visitors could learn and observe the methods of planting mushrooms and breeding lobsters as well as the processes of harvesting both products. The mushrooms and lobsters are also readily available and freshly served in AHV.

LADA is convinced that the planned and launched action this time is not only capable in returning Langkawi’s tourism income, but also beneficial and economically rewarding for the locals as well as the whole tourism industry. Involvement of all government agencies, private sector, industry players, NGOs, and local community is the main pillar of this island’s economic revival.
