The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) in collaboration with the Langkawi District Association of Bumiputra Women Malaysia (Usahanita) has organised a ‘Pulut Kuning’ (yellow glutinous rice) decoration and mocktail competition, and a Kerabu-making and detox drink competition in conjunction with the ‘Hari Kreativiti Usahawan’ (Entrepreneur Creativity Day), which was held at the Laman Padi, Pantai Cenang Langkawi. This competition was participated in by 14 groups for both categories and was officiated by Tuan Wan Kamarul Faisal bin Wan Kamardin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of LADA (Planning & Development).

This competition was judged by a line of professional judges namely Chef Zainudin bin Daud, Executive Chef from Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, En. Ahmad Ikhwan Fitri bin Arefin and Pn. Wan Nordiana binti Wan Mohd from Langkawi Tourism Academy (LTA) and Pn. Mahsuri binti Abdul Latif from Langkawi District KEMAS Office.

Sentuhan Azie Legend Group has successfully won the first prize of the ‘Pulut Kuning’ decoration and mocktail competition with the results of their creativity and brought home a cash amount of RM250.00 and food items. The ‘Kerabu’ making and detox drink competition was won by the Dee Mummy Gojes group with a cash prize of RM150.00 along with food items. The Best Group Performance category was won by the Samudera Group from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) Langkawi and the Group Collaboration Performance category was won by the Till Jannah group. Each has brought home hampers in the form of food items.

To impress the judges, each group has highlighted its own expertise in decorating the ‘Pulut Kuning’ and preparing ‘Kerabu’. Scores are determined not only by appearance but also by texture and taste. Furthermore, food presentation considers where food must be clean, appealing, and practical. It turns out that all groups are creative in their own way.

The close relationship and cooperation between LADA and Usahanita, entrepreneurs and Government agencies in Langkawi have successfully realised this programme which was held for the first time. Hopefully this cooperation can continue in the future.
